Funeral services for Mary Jo will be Tuesday, May 9 at 10:30am at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Clayton. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 5pm to 7pm.
Mary Jo (Lubbers) Huber, daughter of Glen and Marlene (Decker) Lubbers, was born November 25, 1955 in Mitchell, South Dakota. She attended school in Emery, South Dakota and Sioux Valley School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was a surgical nurse before becoming a stay at home mom. When her kids were older, she worked at Fuchtman Tax Service in Creighton, Nebraska.
On June 24, 1977, Mary Jo was united in marriage to Terry Huber at First Baptist Church in Emery, South Dakota. They were blessed with four children, Sarah, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Jonathan.
Terry and Mary Jo lived in Bazile Mills, Nebraska for many years before retiring to Emery. Mary Jo was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills until recently when she became a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Clayton, South Dakota. She was a dedicated pastor's wife and was active in Ladies Aid, Sunday School, and Bible School at Christ Lutheran Church and at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Verdigre, Nebraska. She also served as organist at Bethlehem Lutheran Church for several years.
Mary Jo died Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Terry; her children Sarah Vandersnick and husband Brett of Rochester, Minnesota, Andrew Huber and wife Kelly of Modesto, California, and Jonathan Huber of Rochester, Minnesota; her grandchildren, Jackson and Elise Vandersnick of Rochester, Minnesota and Brooks and Blake Huber of Modesto, California; sister Carol Porcher and Steve of Freeland, Maryland; brother Darin Lubbers and Beth of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; father-in-law, Orville Huber of Clayton, South Dakota; sisters-in-law Joan Huber of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jeanne and Daryl Schorsten of Columbus, Ohio, Melanie and Randy Miller of Hartford, South Dakota, Deanna and Courtney Clayborne of Rapid City, South Dakota; and 13 nieces and nephews - Blaze, Brock, Kristina, Marie, Lindsey, Madison, Marissa, Shannon, Cody, Jared, Seth, Kyli, and Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Huber; parents Glen and Marlene Lubbers; mother-in-law Dorothy Huber; brothers-in-law Lyle Huber and Ron Morr.
