Louis (Kenneth) Schroeder

Louis (Kenneth) Schroeder, age 84 from Bridgewater, SD passed away on October 22, 2024 at Ava's House (Sanford Hospice Care) in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, October 26 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Bridgewater, SD with burial following at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Bridgewater, SD. Visitation will be from 6 pm to 7 pm on Friday, October 25 with a prayer service at 7 pm at St. Stephen's Catholic Church.

Born on January 4, 1940 in Bridgewater, SD, Ken was the second of four children born to Lawrence and Marie Schroeder. His siblings included Dorothy (Jim) Scheurenbrand, Bernardine (John Schaefer) Schwans and Michael (Pam) Schroeder.

Ken grew up in Bridgewater, attending St. Stephen's Grade School and graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1958. He married Kathleen Gross on January 10, 1961 and together they had three sons, Guy, Cary, and Jason.

Ken joined the family grain and feed business in the early 1960's and was the 3rd generation General Manager until his retirement in February 2006.

Ken had a great love for the outdoors and was always very enthusiastic about hunting, fishing, biking and camping. He loved spending time in the outdoors with his sons, grandchildren, and friends.

Ken was extremely proud of his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ken is survived by his children, Guy Schroeder of Sioux Falls, SD, Cary (Jan) Schroeder of Brandon, SD, and Jason (Sheila) Schroeder of Watertown, SD; grandchildren Karli Schroeder, Mariah (Jordan) Urban, Maci Schroeder, Miranda (Zach) Friederich, Kara (Nick) Orobello, Dana Schroeder, Emily (Gramm) Johnson, and Samuel (Allie) Schroeder; great-grandchildren Asher, Ryker, Maxton, Blakely, and Mara. Kenneth is also survived by his siblings Dorothy Scheurenbrand of Sarasota, FL, and Bernardine Schwans of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael Schroeder, brothers-in-law Jim Scheurenbrand, John Schaefer, and grandson Gabriel Schroeder.
