Faye Lorraine (Wipf) Goertz, the second oldest of seven daughters of Paul Z. and Velissa (McCann) Wipf, was born September 30, 1930 on the family homestead.

Faye grew up on the family farm and attended country school Independant District 86. She was baptized in faith on May 16, 1948 at Bethany Mennonite Church. She graduated from Freeman Public High School in 1948. She was musically talented in playing the piano, guitar, trumpet, French horn, and the accordian.

On May 30, 1948 Faye was married to Marvin Goertz by Rev. Hugo Mierau. To this union were born five children; Dale (Teresa), Linda (Sam), Brenda (Larry), Gary (Liz), and Janet (Joe).

Faye’s greatest blessing in life was raising her children and being involved in her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s lives. She was always eager to go to their sporting events, musical events, birthday parties or just anywhere she could have her family near her. Some of her most cherished memories were camping and would often be found with a fishing pole hoping for a perch on the hook. Holidays with family was another favorite memory. Faye was a very quiet person, but lived a life of strong faith. Her family looked forward to coming over and eating her famous ‘‘Grandma’s Spaghetti’’.

Faye was employed at Freeman Community Hospital for 43 years. Her roles there included working as a nurses’ aide, a surgical technician, a purchasing agent, and a dining room aide. Faye also served her community as an EMT alongside her son, Dale. She also took pride in washing the athletic uniforms for the Freeman Flyers.

Those left to cherish Faye’s legacy are her three daughters Linda, Brenda, and Janet along with their families, twelve grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Also cherishing her memory are her sisters Eleanor (Darrel); Sylvia; Audrey (Charles); Twila (Jeff) along with their families.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, sons Dale and Gary, parents Paul and Velissa Wipf, parent-in-law Peter and Pauline Goertz, son-in-law Kyle Lee, grandson-in-law Brad Johnson, sister Vilma and brother-in-law Robert, sister Neva and brother-in-law Howard, brothers-in-law Glendon Dubs, Paul Mendel, Rueben and Florence Goertz, Bill and Goldie Burge, and many other special family members.
