Edgar Ricardo Ortiz Sanchez

Edgar Ricardo Ortiz Sanchez, 22, of Sioux Falls passed away on March 10th at the Sanford Vermillion Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 17th, at 2:30 pm at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Clayton (42652 272nd St, Emery, SD 57332) . Visitation will be Saturday, March 16th, at the church from 6-7 pm with a prayer service to be held at 7 pm. A full obituary will be posted soon.

Edgar Ricardo Ortiz Sanchez was born on April 9, 2001.He was baptized on May 10th, 2001 at New Jerusalem Church in Sioux Falls, SD.

Edgar played basketball for Marion High School and wrestled for the Freeman/Marion Rebels. Then, graduated from Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls. He joined the Marine Corp on June 3rd, 2019 and was Honorably discharged June 2nd, 2023. Edgar joined the Marines after high school. He was dedicated to finish what he started and graduating from the Marine Corps Boot Camp was one of his proudest achievements. He enjoyed hiking with his military gear while stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. He would call while on the top of one of the hills and tell us about his time there. After his discharge, Edgar began to attend USD to study Computer Forensics.

Edgar loved being the silly one in anything he did. He had the biggest imagination and would love telling grandma his stories. He was innocently caring and always there to give a hug or help if he could.

Edgar loved doing many, many things such as crafting his own armor and making ghillie suits, he loved playing airsoft and keeping himself in shape by running. He always had a fascination with space, he loved Star Trek and many space themed video games. He loved many other things like caring for reptiles, studying insects, and playing with his pet cat. Edgar was always busy dreaming of what he could do next. Most of all Edgar loved his mother and family. Everyone that was around Edgar and touched by his life will miss him dearly.

Edgar is survived by his mother, Nineth (Tim) Huber of Sioux Falls; Sister, Vanessa Sanchez of Sioux Falls; Sister, Stasia Huber of Sioux Falls; Brother, Kirby Huber of Sioux Falls; and Brother, Josimar Oritz of Marales, Guatemala.
